Karen Parsons
Owner and Creative Director
You could say I was born to own a beauty
salon.
In fact, that's where my parents first
met. My mother Karen Parsons, my namesake,
was a shampoo girl for her sister Elaine
in the early 1960's at Erna and Yvette¹s
Coiffures in Lakewood, Ohio. My mother
didn't know it at the time, but Yvette
was her future mother-in-law. She was
set up on a blind date with my father
while working at the salon. The rest
is history!
When I was little, my grandmother,
mother and Auntie Elaine taught me almost
everything I know about beauty. The
rest I've learned on my own. Over the
years, I've traveled the globe to continue
my education and compete in numerous
hair and make up competitions. I enjoy
what I do and love making people feel
and look their best.
That's why I've decided to follow in the
footsteps of my mother and open my own
salon. It's an adventure that I would
like you to share with me. Please call,

In this ever-changing world of fashion and beauty, I make it a priority to stay on top of the trends. My experience began well over a decade ago in Miami where I studied Fashion and Art, and my passion for hair brought me back to Greenville, NC for many years. After I got married, I moved to Cary and jumped all over the opportunity to become a part of The Lounge. Though I am well versed in all aspects of coloring and cutting, I genuinely excel at technical cuts and short hair styles - from funky pixie cuts to traditional men’s hair styles. I am always excited to be able to transform my guests when they sit in my chair. Though we may spend our time together chatting about everyday life, you are sure to leave my chair looking extraordinary.

Maryam
Master Stylist
As an after school job, I worked as a receptionist at a salon in Cary, NC and went straight to cosmetology school as soon as I could. Once I became qualified, I was privileged to assist under hair guru, Karen Parsons, and further refined my foundation of great hair cuts and color. When Karen decided to open up The Hair and Face Lounge, I became her "right hand woman.” During this, I fell in love with AVEDA. I developed a passion and expertise in hair color and I scored a job as an AVEDA Hair Color Educator after recognizing my talent. I have been able to assist for AVEDA’s global educators, which has been a fun extension of being a hairstylist. The Lounge is my place to express my passion for beauty and fashion, and you will feel that when you are a guest in my chair. Ashley Blum - Coming Soon as a New Talent Stylist in January 2009!!!
On a network not yet developed in 1975,
Ashley Blum was the star of a once,
soon to be popular sitcom; The Braid
E. Bunch. She then became the star operator
of a trendy salon in Cary, NC. After
mastering many modern magic tricks,
like call waiting and e-mail, this sexy Capricorn
is hip to hair as well. She is currently attending the Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill
and will be added to our list of stylists soon!

After wearing many hats in corporate America over the past twelve years, I decided that it was about time for a little change and joined the family at The Lounge. I was brought on to do a few things here and there - answer the phone, make some coffee, remember to turn the lights off at night. You know - the essentials. Now, I’ve become the “salon mom” of sorts and I love every single moment of it. Whether you’ve got a question about the availability of your favorite stylist, or you can’t remember which AVEDA product you’ve purchased before, I’m happy to help you out. I'm educated on both the AVEDA haircare and skincare lines, so if you have any questions about AVEDA products - please ask me! I have also been so deeply inspired and creatively supported by The Lounge family, that I am attending cosmetology school so I can stand beside these fantastic ladies as a stylist, too. It is not everyday that someone can say they LOVE their job, or that they BELIEVE in the people they work with. I am honored to be able to say both.
